Our national network makes effective use of huge volumes of good quality food and other groceries, much of which would otherwise go to waste.
Organise a Food Drive
A great way for your organisation, club or faith community can support food sourcing for your local FoodBank is starting a regular food drive, collecting donations of cans, dry goods and other items needed by your FoodBank. Before embarking on a Food Drive, be sure to contact your local FoodBank (currently Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg and Port Elizabeth) to discuss current needed items, as well as items we cannot receive (such as opened or partly used cans or jars of food). If your Food Drive anticipates getting a large volume of food (typically 75kg or more, or 200 cans or more), and you are within 30km of a FoodBank, your local FoodBank will also try to assist you with transport.
