Unilever Employee Volunteer Program

E-mail Print

World Food Day logoUnilever employees are serving the community on World Food Day!

Today, over 40 Unilever employees have volunteered their time at FoodBank Durban, engaging in various activities.

- Distribution: 6 volunteers join our distribution team to assist with collections & distribution.

- Product Defacing: 15 volunteers are defacing & repacking products in our warehouse.

- Sandwich Jam: 30 volunteers are making 4000 nutritious sandwiches (500 loaves). This afternoon, the sandwiches will be distributed to three schools in Kwa Mashu and given to the children. Unilever sponsored the margarine, bread, peanut butter, jam and ice tea to support this exercise.

On this day, we declare and remind South Africans that: Everybody has a right to nutritious food!....

...and by this exercise we hope to demonstrate it to the public.

Further more, we challenge individuals in corporate companies to make an extra nutritious sandwich once a week to promote this idea and support those who are disadvantaged.

FoodBank Durban appreciates the effort & time dedicated by Unilever employees; and we hope that this day will revive and highlight the importance of nutritious food for our lives!

“I have witnessed so much change in the learners. Their attendance has improved so much. The teachers are impressed with the learners’ achievements in class, ever since they started receiving the sandwiches they concentrate better in class."
