Our Lunch Gang is made up four colleagues. Each lunch hour during the week of Monday 12 October to Friday 16 October (World Food Day), they got together over modest homemade lunches and blogged on hunger in South Africa, and how to solve it together. You can read the blog below. At the end of the week, they donated the money they saved on lunches to FoodBank SA.

Take the Lunch Gang Challenge!

Why not start your own Lunch Gang and Donate what you save to help those who struggle daily to find food. To get started, check out our Take Action section which includes lots of suggestions, including our microwave recipe for pap (maize porridge).

Waste Not. Want Not.

lunchgangMany of us had mothers who, when encouraging us not to waste food, denied us dessert until we had "finished everything on our plate".  If Mother Earth did the same thing, all of us who buy food from a retail store would never get any pudding!

Enough Already! What SA Produces

E-mail Print
lunchgangIn their first lunch-time conversation, the Lunch Gang, chatted about the fact that we have enough food in South Africa, and the irony that in a country with enough food, we still have 30% of our population going hungry. Find out how much food South Africa produces per person, and why, even though we are a net importer of food, we still can claim we produce enough food.
