FoodBank South Africa (FBSA) has supporters and supporters. Every supporter - big and small - is special to us. Cargill is one of those supporters that has been behind FBSA since its inception, both in terms of critical funding and volunteer support.
"To date Cargill has contributed over R900,000 to establish food banks countrywide," says Rebecca Willson, who takes care of risk management business for Cargill in Africa and Australasia.
"In light of its vision to be the global leader in nourishing people, Cargill supports efforts around the world to provide safe, nutritious, accessible food supplies in its local communities. Cargill's partnership with FBSA has been a great opportunity to build a national network of food banks in South Africa and to provide an injection of resources for FBSA's Lunch Buddies programme."Rebecca says Cargill recognises that its continued success depends on the growth and health of its communities and partners. It is working with a diverse group of global, national and local organisations to support responsible economic development, help protect the environment and improve communities.
Jeroen de Lijster, the managing director of FBSA, says that the continued success of FBSA depends on the support of companies like Cargill. "We are very appreciative of the support of Cargill and anticipate a long and mutually beneficial relationship based on our shared vision to create food secure communities."
