People with a taste for life

spur_corpLiving up to the Spur jingle, the good people at Spur steak ranches are showing that they truly do have “a taste for life”.

Not only has the Spur Group signed up to the Fill the Gap Club with a donation of R10,000; the company has gone a step further and made it really easy for staff to help fill the gap in a personal capacity.

To encourage staff to support FoodBank, Spur now enables its people to donate to FoodBank via discretionary monthly payroll deductions. This is handled by Spur so that FoodBank receives one lump-sum donation from the company at month end.

“We take pride in serving great food, caring for our country and its people, and creating a sustainable business that makes a positive difference in the lives of all South Africans. So it’s perfectly fitting for Spur to partner with a group of people who share our passion and vision,” said Spur’s managing director Pierre van Tonder.

Mary-Ann Parr, fundraising manager for FoodBank South Africa, commended Spur for leading the way with this novel approach to giving: “Spur has shown great innovation and commitment to FoodBank and fighting hunger in South Africa, for which we are very grateful. There’s also great synergy between our brands. We’re looking forward to collaborating in more exciting ways in the future.”
