FoodBank SA is delighted to announce that Mohamed (“Mo”) Kajee has been appointed as the project's Managing Director with effect from 1 December.
Mo has over 30 years of diverse commercial experience. Highlights include:
♦ Managing Director of Irvin and Johnson
♦ Chief Executive Officer of Premier Fishing South Africa (Pty) Ltd
♦ Founding member, Group Financial Director and eventually Group Chief Executive Officer of the BEE group Sekunjalo Investments Ltd
♦ 18 years of experience in the oil industry with Mobil and then BP
♦ Institute of People Management – H.R. Practitioner of the Year Award in 2002
Mo was born in Knysna but he and his wife now live in Newlands, near Cape Town. He has a B Compt (Hons) from UNISA and is a Chartered Accountant (SA).
Mo was introduced to FoodBank SA in mid-2011 when Old Mutual’s Ilima Trust generously sponsored him to work with the project, initially as a consultant. Mo quickly developed a passion for FoodBank and was appointed as the project's Deputy Managing Director two months ago. He has now accepted an invitation from the Board of Directors to lead the project as its Managing Director.

Alan Gilbertson, who stood in as the project's Managing Director on an unpaid basis for much of 2011, remains a Director of FoodBank SA and the acting Managing Director of the FoodBank Foundation. He is working on initiatives to safeguard the financial sustainability of this critical project.
