Bermuda Lily's Gift

lily006thYou don't have to be a certain age nor live in South Africa to help FoodBank serve our nation's 14 million hungry.  Young Lily Theriault of Bermuda raised US$140 (R1033) for FoodBank South Africa in lieu of gifts on the occasion of her fourth birthday party in September. Lily sets a fine example to us all of how You Can Help those less fortunate, no matter how little or far away you are.

A Heritage against Hunger: Lion's Clubs

Lions Club InternationLions Clubs International is currently the largest service based organisation, with its roots worldwide and a total of 45,000 Clubs & 1.3 Million Members. The Lions share a great heritage in alleviating social economic problems such as poverty and hunger; addressing issues such as impaired vision, lack of education, and at times stepping in through their fundraising efforts to sponsor infrastructure.  As one of the founding members of FoodBank South Africa, we are proud to draw on its heritage and support in addressing hunger in our country.

Learn about hungerLEARN about hunger: Spend the next 15 minutes browsing the www.foodbank.org.za website, focusing on the problem of hunger in South Africa (and the global situation), and how you can be a part of solving it.

 

Learn about hungerTEACH your children: Download Hunger Bytes, a set of exercises to do with your children to educate your family about hunger in South Africa.  Try and draw how hunger feels and find out how many South Africans are vulnerable to food insecurity, and how foodbanking is helping fight hunger. Learn about hungerENGAGE your community: Download the Placemat for the Hungry, and use it as a conversation piece for discussing hunger with your friends and in your community.
